From Page to the trailhead

The parking lot and trailhead are reached from US Highway 89 and lie about 5 miles (8 km) south of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. Horseshoe Bend itself is about 4 miles (6 km) southwest of the town of Page. The lot stands on city land, and the City of Page charges for parking at the trailhead. America the Beautiful passes and other National Park Service passes do not cover the lot.

The walk to the overlook

Reaching the Horseshoe Bend overlook and returning covers 1.5 miles (2.4 km) on a hardened path. Along the trail there is no water and very little shade, and the hottest part of the day is the stretch visitors should avoid.

Drones may not be operated from or on National Park Service lands within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, unless the superintendent gives written approval.

The bend and the river

At Horseshoe Bend the Colorado River cut a bend roughly 1,000 ft (305 m) deep, forming a 270-degree horseshoe-shaped curve in Glen Canyon. The bend and that stretch of the river belong to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Smooth water float trips on the Colorado River run from Lees Ferry to Horseshoe Bend and back.
